GIRIJA S. AYYALA, MS, RDN,CDN, IFNCP

I am a Registered Dietitian – Nutritionist and a New York State Certified Dietitian – Nutritionist with over twenty five years of experience in nutrition counseling. I earned Master of Science degrees in Food and Nutrition from Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad, Telangana, India and Medical Biology & Nutritional Science from Long Island University, New York.

I worked as a clinical dietitian at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue, New York and Long Island Veterans Home, Stony Brook NY. I started my own private practice in Patchogue, NY( 1991-2014) and helped many patients with diabetes, heart disease, weight management & bariatric nutrition, Women’s health and gastrointestinal disorders with a particular emphasis on gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel disease, food sensitivities, etc .

Since 2004, my practice emphasis has changed to integrative and functional nutrition . I received training in “Food As Medicine” from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Integrative & Functional Medicine & Nutrition from Institute for Functional Medicine. I am also a Certified Practitioner from Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy. I had also taken number of courses in Herbal medicine through Clayton College of Natural Health and East West School of Planetary Herbology.

I am passionate and committed to improving health and wellness through Integrative and Functional Nutrition principles and guidelines, which includes in-depth nutrition history, assessment and providing personalized nutrition care plans that include – appropriate diet / meal plan, supplement recommendations, exercise and lifestyle modifications, etc. I am a strong believer of the Ayurvedic saying : “When the Diet is Wrong, Medicine is of no use. When the Diet is Right, Medicine is of no need.”
